Title: Burst Pipe then wont start
Post by Mike_C on May 24th, 2006, 10:55pm
Hi all,

My pride and joy burst a water pipe last Sunday. It was the small 5/8 in rubber pipe leading into the cabin heater.

I didnt notice anything until my temp needle went into the red. I pulled over but the engine cut out before I had stopped. I found the burst pipe easily but the car wouldnt restart. I got it towed home by a mate.

I was able to change the pipe but again the engine wouldnt start, I tried the Safety Cut out but all is ok.
The engine turns over but it seems as if there is no fuel getting to it.
Ive checked the fuses which control the fuel pump but no joy.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? Im just worried that I did some serious damage while I was driving it.

Thanks in advance

Mike

Mike, have you checked any electrical connectors that could have been affected by the burst?. Isn't it more likely that the water has caused a short ?. What engine is it?. There are a number of fuses which could have blown so it may be worth checking others. 34,36,37 and the main fuses I,II,III would be a good start (No pun intended !). Are any other circuits affected apart from the non starting?.
