Title: Assistance with ABS fault required Post by Mummra on May 25th, 2006, 11:58pm Hi I have a problem with my ABS light staying on all the time. I have checked all the wiring, which seems to be ok and meters out alright. I have checked all sensors and altough they meter out OK, one sensor had a crack in the casing. I removed the sensor and partly immersed it in water for a while so that water could enter the crack and the resistance dropped right down to half it's previous value. I have replaced that sensor, but have no way of knowing if the fault is fixed as I believe the code can only be cleared by a diagnostic system. Which is the reason for my post, is there anybody in the Northants/Bucks/Oxon area with diagnostics I could borrow, or bring my car to you, to clear the code and check the ABS. Many Thanks Dave |

Title: Re: Assistance with ABS fault required Post by Kjetil S on May 26th, 2006, 12:17am If I remember correctly, the fault code _should_ clear itself. If it doesn't, it should go away if you disconnect the battery for a moment. (Not sure how long, exactly, it takes to clear the error code memory) |

Title: Re: Assistance with ABS fault required Post by Mummra on May 26th, 2006, 5:54pm According to the ABS fault finding guide, with the Mk20 ABS system (which is the one I have) the always on warning light can only be reset by diagnostics, and no amount of battery disconnection will reset it, apparently. |
