Title: 7000 Radio panel - 'self removing'
Post by FishHead on Jun 2nd, 2006, 11:29am
I've got the 7000 CD/Radio with the removable pseudo-security panel (which removes Radio 2 to 5  ;) ).

Recently (I've had the car 8 years), the radio occasionally switches off and I have to press the panel back in place - sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't.  The worst was yesterday when I had to do it about twenty times.  It'll then be ok for a few days or even weeks.

I never remove it voluntarily, but it's now getting annoying - any suggestions for sorting it out would be appreciated.

Regards

There have been a number of posts about this problem. Advice and indeed success varies. Try putting the unit in a warm place, airing cupboard or similar to see if drying it out helps. Also carefully clean the contacts with a suitable switch cleaner. Could the actually catch mechanism be worn?.

Ta for this - I'll give it a go.

I did have a look for similar queries before I posted but didn't find any  :-[
