has anyone any advice on how to remove panels so i could replace front speakers?and what size do you think they are?any advice would be great,thanks

hi-speakers are 4 1/2" dia(5 1/2x5with mounting plate) with a tweeter,20 watt 4ohm.

so what would you recommend i buy speaker wise?was going to up the watts to say 100watts output so i dont blow them again...have a sub and power amp in boot..is this affecting speaker performance?

The 25% headroom allowance for the speaker is a little conservative IMHO. Normally one would double the rating of the speaker in relation to the output of the amplifier,...well that's what I have always worked on.

well ive a 45x4 stereo and a 200 watt power amp in boot,what would you suggest?

At least 4 x 60W (nominal power) speakers should be instaled. For the 200W amp a 250W subwoofer will do. Take great care when buying a speaker, the producer always lists the peek power which could be sustained for verry small periods of time. You are interested in the nominal power. As an example you cand find 300W speakers which have only 100W nominal power....the rest is "peek". @

Nominal or RMS is the figure you need to look at.

Don't want to confuse nobody but i saw something rated as 300 W RMS....and somewhere written with small latters was *peek power. This mean a maximum of 300 rms but it's not nominal ;)

well,i got the front panels off door fine,went well,i wired up back speakers to my power amp and bought new pioneer speakers for front doors...25wrms 130 watt total output...fronts are are running off head unit,back speakers and sub off power amp..soounds abslotulety amazing...will running front speakers off head unit mean they are under less stress??looked at powerful speakers but were out what i could afford...thanks for all the help people,it was really appreciated..

The ford head unit hasn't got a big power. The 5000 rds has 4x7 W and the 6000 / 7000 series have 4 x 20 W, so the 25 W speaker is perfect ;)

i got the car with no stereo!!fitted a jvc 4x40w(mistake earlier)i take it i run the risk of causing them damage? ???

Probably not. I guess the 4x40W is peak power. I have a 4x55W Clarion, and that is 4x30W or something continous.
My (wild) guess is that the JVC is somewhere around 4x25W continous.

Unless you really crank it up (as a habit), it's seldom a problem using an amplifier with higher rating than the speakers. Playing on normal levels won't damage your speakers. (Besides: the most common cause of blown speakers are amplifier clipping, not too much power.)

well ido crank it up,its mostly hiphop r n b that i listen to so i will just have to hope speakers cope ok,im only running front speakers from headunit,rear and sub are being run by power amp so i think front speakers wont be under as much pressure...heres hoping!!

Unless you head unit is clipping, it should be okay (I think ;D).

I've disconnected the front speakers and run the original rear speakers + sub off a 4x80W (rms continous) amplifier (since I play my music on a carputer without high level outputs, and I haven't bothered to connect the front speakers. I will connect them, eventually.) Even though I tend to crank it way up, they still seem to be coping with the extra power just fine. If the front speakers can take as much power, it shouldn't be a problem.
