Hi,
does anyone know if it is possible to permanently remove and block all hoses/pipes leading to EGR valve without confusing the electronics?

thanks for any help

Hi, have a read of this: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/egrmonitor.htm and http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/egr.htm , they suggest that disconnecting the EGR completely (the equivalent to it being inoperative) shouldn't effect ignition advance, so might run ok with it not there.

However, the cossie engine seems to be quite sensitive to things not working (i know mine is), and disconnecting the EGR may cause 'pinking' because the EGR is needed to cool down combustion chamber temperatures. it will also show up lots of fault codes if you were to scan the car, because it will be looking for electronic parts which aren't there!

will cause no problems, remove pipe & actuator, I usually cut off the two flanges & re fit with large ball bearings in place of the pipes to seal the openings, be sure to blank the vacuum hose to the actuator, job done.

I'm using my 2.3 without the EGR for more than one year, it's woorking good, no fault codes. I just have disconnected the vaccum hose that controls the membrane and put a cap on it.
