Title: Climate control problem Post by paulscorp on Jun 10th, 2006, 2:37pm Hi guys, wonder if anyone can shed some light. Yesterday i wanted to use the a/c, so i put both the temperature settings on LO and the a/c light on, only i started getting hotter. Only the left hand vent was nice and cold while the 2 centre ones and the right hand vents were blowing hot air. So, I reset the cc as per instruction on here and got codes 50 and 57 displayed which when reset, went back to 00 but still the problem is there. Has anyone experienced this? Could it be the SATC? Any help appreciated regards Paul |

Title: Re: Climate control problem Post by scorpio_man on Jun 10th, 2006, 2:54pm hi paul sometimes you need to reset it a couple of times to clear the code. 57 is the hbc failing a bit, but most of us have that problem. do you use the a/c all the time? you need to use it for at least 30 per month. is the a/c pipework getting cold? hth |

Title: Re: Climate control problem Post by paulscorp on Jun 10th, 2006, 3:16pm I've tried resetting it a couple of times and still no joy. Cant say i use the a/c hardly at all but even without the a/c on i still should be getting cooler air from the offending vents, so i'm almost convinced its a fault with the actual temperature operation itself rather than the a/c, hence my thoughts on SATC. That said, iam stumped :-[ |

Title: Re: Climate control problem Post by paulscorp on Jun 10th, 2006, 3:24pm Andrew, To be honest i reset it both times while driving up the motorway (i wasn't driving - wifey was) so couldn't hear any flaps flapping, i will go reset it again in a moment and check the pipes regards Paul |

Title: Re: Climate control problem Post by sector-9 on Jun 10th, 2006, 3:24pm Mine did the same thing after I did some work on the car. It was because the servos controlling the airbox had 'lost' their positions. Resetting the SATC (several times incl. calibrating control knobs) cured it eventually but I've never had error 57. Title: Re: Climate control problem Post by scorpio_man on Jun 10th, 2006, 3:29pm hi paul think you need to turn off to complete the reset. bit like rebooting a pc :-/ hth |

Title: Re: Climate control problem Post by paulscorp on Jun 10th, 2006, 3:49pm Right, i've done 3 more resets, and still all but one one vent is pump out warm air. The a/c pipes are cold andrew. When i reset, all i can hear is a whirring noise behind the dash i.e flaps opening/closing until i finish the reset procedure |

Title: Re: Climate control problem Post by scorpio_man on Jun 10th, 2006, 4:05pm hi there hope it's not this as posted by DJWerkz Personally I have my doubts on it being the C/C panel. Faulty actuator for the passenger side air outlet Do you mean the motor switches on the heater box? (there are four in all, two on each side). I replaced the two on the passenger side already but I did feel that the paddle/flap for the rear motor switch was stiff at the time. Any way of lubricating this without having to pull the heater box out? Plus I do not relish having to get to these motor switches again, that rear one is a complete nightmare. |

Title: Re: Climate control problem Post by paulscorp on Jun 10th, 2006, 4:09pm Oh that doesnt sound good Andrew does it? Hey ho, i think i will change the SATC as a matter of course just in case, but anything further than that i think i will leave well alone. Too much going wrong now and i've started saving for a new car so fingers crossed the old scorp will hold out til then |

Title: Re: Climate control problem Post by sector-9 on Jun 10th, 2006, 5:01pm I think the last thing I tried on mine before it started working was to set the temperature for both sides at about 25, turn the knobs fully anti-clockwise and then do reset. Darren |

Title: Re: Climate control problem Post by paulscorp on Jun 10th, 2006, 5:20pm Cheers Mike, i'll certainly have a bash but i guess the bottom line is the car is just getting old and it really didnt have the best life before i got hold of it, so its time to cut the losses i think. Ok Darren, i'll give that a go as well, anything is worth a try regards Paul |
