Title: Re: ignition lock barrel - SOS!Stranded Post by Simmo on Jun 11th, 2006, 7:29am There is no secret .. brute force!!. However as Johnnycab says persevere with the normal key. Try turning and pulling/pushing at the same time. In order to remove the barrell properly you must get the key to turn to Position 1. IF you get it to turn to Position 1.... LEAVE IT THERE . Go to this page and select 'Ignition lock'.http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/intbasicelec.htm. |

Title: Re: ignition lock barrel - SOS!Stranded Post by albert on Jun 12th, 2006, 6:59pm What you do is that you take a 7 mm drill into the ign lock barrel, than a 11 mm drill and drill about 15mm into the barrel. Than you can get out the parts inside adn take a screwdriver to turn the lock around. Then you take out the cylinder and replace it with a new one :) |

Title: Re: ignition lock barrel - SOS!Stranded Post by OHC on Jun 13th, 2006, 1:05pm Hello! Thanks to all for advice. I managed to remove the barrel without damage. I dismantled the cowling, removed the ignition contacts - black plastic thing with wires soldered to it (but be careful with its plastic clips!) Then I tried to turn the Key pushing it inwards. An bingo - it turned freely. I tried to repeat the trick with contacts on but to no avail. Without them there is some slack in the shaft coming out from the barrel - and that helped me! The rest is history! ;) Truly yours, OHC |

Title: Re: ignition lock barrel - SOS!Stranded Post by OHC on Jun 13th, 2006, 2:28pm Hello! FMDs in Russia sell them only in sets (ignition, two doors and boot) and 2 weeks' wait. And door and boot locks still work OK! I've rebuilt it and cut a new key! OHC |
