I,m glad to back on the site.
Just bought an 2nd cosworth with a problem.

there is no front drive with the autobox, but reverse is fine.

oil is a oke (bit brown)

could this be electric ??

Tried doing an OBD2-scan? That should probably come up with some error codes.

yes i scanned using obddiag usb and scantoolnet
only 2 codes about H2 sensors, no codes about the transmission.
the ex owner told me the car just had no front drive after he had stopped by a gasstation. ???
only in 1 there is a slight feeling of movement
oil level is oke, reverse is under a second

Got to be electrical if it went just like that surely.

Check the loom and plugs that goes down to the gearbox maybe, good place to start.

i just checked the connectors c112 and c113 under the powersteeringcan (TIS CD ) and they are full of power streering oil >:(
i will try to clean them and let you know

Hi, before you go rushing into "electrical problems", do you have any lights flashing on your dash and does your gear console have a sport mode button?? I ask this because some cossies did not have electronic gearboxes and had the old A4LD 12valve type transmission, which is hydraulic operation in the first 3 gears, hence it will be an internal box fault, most likely forward clutch failure. Also if you want to prove the integrity or not of the Forward Clutch and if you do have a 4R44E transmission (electronic sport mode one), simply pull the main valve chest plug off the gearbox and see if it will go forwards in 3rd gear default mode. If it does then you could have an electrical fault, but if there is no lights flashing on the dash (green O/D lamp) then it is most likely box rebuild time as these units do eat clutch packs.

just cleaned the connectors, but it didn,t help
de green 0d/light flashed a few times but now it,s oke
de car is from 96/2 with the S button.
i will try the main valve plug but i,m affraid too that the foward clutch is gone.
so i will rebuild the box, about 10 years ago i rebuild a scorpio(granada) a4ld

I,m glad a have an other 24V ghia ( 97/2)

UPDATE:
the box is rebuild, the specialist ( www.autrans.nl) said that the forward clutch was totally burned (at only 85.000 km.) and that you always should have forward drive even with an electrical problem
it was a lot of work ( and 1500 euro)but it,s working fine now
