Title: Door warning indicator showing
Post by podge on Jun 14th, 2006, 7:28pm
For the past few days I get the red warning light on the dash indicating that the door is open- (rear drivers side)

I have too realy slam the door for the warning light to go off, but to wake up in the night too the car alarm going off.

Is it a switch in the door that is faulty, or something more serious, and can it be rectified by ones self.

Could be the switch is loose, my driver door has done the same thing in the past.

Hi, yep, I agree.  My tailgate one kept doing it and also a while ago on Sierra Cossie in the past.  It is most likely the switch inside the door which clips onto the lock.  The ones in the door are a right pain to get at so dont mess around buy a new one from fords cos they are only peanuts. I fitted a s/h one on my Cossie Sierra and then swore 2 days later when it had to be replaced again !!!

Since my first post on this subject the light door indicator now stays on all the time , and no end of door slamming makes it go off.
As a tempory measure can this switch be shorted out on the door loom, and if so what colour wires are they.
