Title: Front suspension
Post by tintin on Jun 17th, 2006, 4:28pm
Hi all,

Next issue to tackle, my cossie has a pull to the left since i got it. I have put two new tyres on the front (the front left got a slow puncture and both were worn). When i turn right round town at speed, i get a scaping/grinding noise from the front left (recent noise, although same noise i got when the front left was low), like something is catching.

I have jacked up the front and wobbled the tyre up/down and forward/backward, no play obvious. Used a crowbar to lever the back bush on the left wishbone, and this does have significant play (half inch), is this normal? cant easily lever the front (any advice on how/where to lever? i have checked out the site, but nothing obvious). New tyre on left has only done about 500 miles, but does seem to be wearing on the inside edge already.

So, my first thought was wishbone, get a new one, but dont know how to confirm it (dont want to spend unnecessary money !!)

cheers

NO!

The back bush can be changed separately, I changed both sides thursday and it made a world of difference.

You could try to change the bushes and see if the problem is gone, if not, try changing the wishbones as well.

Good advice,  the back bushes are  only £15 each  whereas the  whole wishbone is about    £90-110.

In my case,  the  replacement   of the   N/S wishbone  was  the  only answer  to my   leftward  drift.
