I finaly got around to buying a 16mm so i can change the plugs, but the new pluggs looks different... Old once, flat and a metallic 'seal' before the threads... New once, coned before the threads, and (ca)5mm longer... I guess its "performance" or "platinum" pluggs... But sholdnt the new once be flatt to.? Its almost a Year since i bought the plugs, and i know i said scorp 95 2.0 16v... Any thoughts? Old once needs to be changed, but i didnt dear to try the new once..... Title: Re: Spark plugg's 2.0 wierd looking Post by Spannerdemon on Jun 18th, 2006, 1:18pm An extra 5mm is enough to smash into your pistons with HORRENDOUS results!! Like Scorpio-Man says. Don't use them until you are 100% sure!! :o :o :o :o |

Title: Re: Spark plugg's 2.0 wierd looking Post by sector-9 on Jun 19th, 2006, 11:12pm Wrong spark plugs. There are two common types: One has a flat sealing edge and a compression washer to make the seal; the other has no sealing washer but has a conical seat. The two types are not interchangeable and must match the mating face on the cylinder head! The conical seat plugs were used on the older Fiestas and Escorts (small engines), whereas the washer type tend to be on the bigger engines like those in the Sierra. Darren |

Title: Re: Spark plugg's 2.0 wierd looking Post by jonnycab on Jun 25th, 2006, 11:26pm Try to tighten the screws slightly, when you feel or hear a crack then the seal is broken & they should undo nicely. :) |

Title: Re: Spark plugg's 2.0 wierd looking Post by mr._floppy on Jun 26th, 2006, 12:38am I had this problem too, the torx screwheads were way overtightened and refused to come off with subsequent damage to the heads. Solution ? Just get a hacksaw, and cut a groove across the heads and remove with a proper bladed screwdriver. Just why do Ford bother with Torx at all ? |

Title: Re: Spark plugg's 2.0 wierd looking Post by Scorpioen84 on Jun 28th, 2006, 12:02am I tryed the thighten to crack the seal trix today, i cracked, butstill to thight, and then the bloddy torxscrew endet up as just a hole without torx rills... (sorry about the choice of words here, did'nt know how to ekspain it better ::) ) They are like butter.! >:( So tomorrow i guess ill gett the hacksaw.... If that does not work i guess ill just cover up the engine and drill off the head.... BTW, does'nt aluminium xpand by heat.? (since the "heated engine trix" didnt work eather.. :P ) |

Title: Re: Spark plugg's 2.0 wierd looking Post by jonnycab on Jun 28th, 2006, 12:48am With good quality properly fitting tools & a decent ratchet then they should have come out :) If they are so tight that they cannot be removed then a hacksaw cut & flat blade screwdriver still might not release them. A Tap & Die kit will get them out, but you will need new bolts when re-fitting :) |
