Title: Auto Transmission Fluid
Post by dxt on Jun 23rd, 2006, 9:04am
Is there an easy way to change the auto fluid. ? Why you ask !!    I've been given some extremely expensive fluid and I thought why not treat my Scorp....!! Whats in there at the moment has been there for 100k miles not dark brown yet but not pure red. Look forward to your comments. Cheers and many thanks.

Its a gearbox sump off job im afraid, can be very messy unless you can get good access under the car and something large to collect the oil in if it spills.

Might be worth getting a specialist to do it with the right set up, it wont take long so shouldn't break the bank.

Change the filter while you're at it.

Someone on the forum drilled their sump and welded a sump plug onto it for future oil changes :)

I supplied my own oil & filter (and sump gasket) to the garage I use and he charged me £30 to do the job.

The pan filter from fords has been modified by the way, you need a shorter bolt to secure it now, and don't forget the 2 o rings for it as well (just as well do em while you are there they only cost £1)

Have a look at this page, and scroll down to the "Another Flushing Method" part at the bottom.
