Title: drive shaft problem ! Post by armatec on Jul 12th, 2006, 7:04pm having a problem putting my drive shaft back on ... never fitted on before , but took the old one off O.K.. fitted it onto the wheel alright, but then i found a problem , i only have a trolly jack and a bottle jack.. (and iv got to do this work outside the house , on the street).. iv got the trolly jack under the rear axel ,, jacked as high as it will go to give me as much room as possible... BUT it wouldnt line up... the angle is wrong. tomorrow (i hope) im thinking of putting the bottle jack under suspension (wheel off) and jacking it up to where it should be as normal ... and all being well the boltholes should line up ........is there a more easy way to do this, or am i going down the right path ???? thanks in advance kev |

Title: Re: drive shaft problem ! Post by mr._floppy on Jul 12th, 2006, 9:38pm Unless you can get your car to a hoist or a pit ( difficult with a halfshaft disconnected I know ) then your best bet is a trolley jack underneath each rear trailing arm, raise each up equally as high as you dare then secure with axle stands. This way it ensures that the drive shafts are as horozontal as if the car was on the ground . Good Luck :-* |

Title: Re: drive shaft problem ! Post by martin_rowe on Jul 13th, 2006, 8:11am sounds like the shaft is in place but bolt holes wont line up, put g/box in neutral so it will allow you to turn the flange, or chock front wheels & release park brake. |
