Title: Clutch pedal sensor?
Post by Kjetil S on Jul 15th, 2006, 7:50pm
Hello all.

I somehow managed to break off a sensor (same kind that sits on the gas pedal wich detects WOT and the brake pedal) sitting on the clutch pedal. As this is a 16v manual without cruise control (but with traction control), does this sensor do anything practical? Haven't really noticed anything different, and everything seems to work nicely.

Picture of the sensor:

Anyone? Would really like to know what this does, so I can decide wether it is worth replacing or not..

hi-not sure but have you tried the abs system out ,might need it for a input for the system.cant see any thing on wiring diagrams.so just a thought .different procedures for traction cntrl and abs to work in different circumstances.

Looking at the wiring diagram page 7 appears to have similar function to transmission switch.
Can’t start in gear with clutch engaged maybe?

No idea what it does but the ECU uses it as well as cruise control if fitted - presumably for engine decceleration control (emissions function) if clutch pressed or in neutral...?

I will try, although it hasn't been a problem to start the engine (atleast crank it) in gear with clutch disengaged before. (Don't know if it's supposed to be like that but every other car I've tried has done the same.

And I believe the ABS works nicely (had some work done on the brakes recently and checked wether I could lock the wheels afterwards), but I will check this as well, just to be sure.
