Title: whistle up my rear Post by malcolm on Jul 16th, 2006, 10:38am Hi everyone i have an annoying noise comming from the rear passenger side its like a low pitched whistle i fitted new pads as i thought it might be them vibrating but it made no difference so on friday i fitted a new wheel bearing at a cost of £73 pound odd from fords (ouch) still no change so yesterday i fitted new mintex vented discs and the noise is still there. It seems to come on after a fast run but its very intermittent it also some times starts when i turn the wheel to the left and stops as i straighten up when its at its loudest im sure people outside can here it i am wondering if it could be something on the drive shaft but i've not had much experience of these i would like to get it sorted as i'm going cornwall in it next week. Look forwards to your comments Malcolm |

Title: Re: whistle up my rear Post by nuttyscorp on Jul 16th, 2006, 2:40pm a little unsure here...but... when you say "whistle" and "high speed", check the o/s/r doorseal, a worn door seal has been known to whistle, or is it more of a whine/groan? Russ |

Title: Re: whistle up my rear Post by malcolm on Jul 16th, 2006, 7:36pm Hi russ thanks for the reply. I would say that it's more of a squeaky whistle and its definately outside the car passenger side my first instinct was brakes but as they are now new and have copper greased the backs and sides i think i can eliminate them the fact it does not do it all the time makes it very annoying but now im going on a long run i would like to get rid of it in case something goes and immoblises me |
