Title: Re: 2 questions on 2.0l 16v Post by Kjetil S on Jul 20th, 2006, 8:48pm Those fuel figures are a bit higher than real world numbers I guess. My 16v manual has a best reading of 34 or so mpg on steady cruising at 50-60mph. Fords numbers say I should have been doing 42mpg. If the offset is the same with the auto and in an "urban environment", I guess you should be doing 15-20mpg (just a guess). Someone actually driving a 16v auto should probably comment on my guesses ;) |

Title: Re: 2 questions on 2.0l 16v Post by irratic on Jul 21st, 2006, 12:11am thanks for the replies folks.. so fuel returns of 26 to 30 urban is not to bad then... and as the rear bushes on the front lower suspension arm isn't suppose to move... can you buy them on there own?? as there is no movement at all in the forward bushes... or is it best to buy the the complete arm??? and are non genuine as good as genuine??? |

Title: Re: 2 questions on 2.0l 16v Post by mr._floppy on Jul 21st, 2006, 1:35am 26-30 urban for a 2lt. is very good , I'm lucky to get over 32mpg at a steady 60mph on the flat. :o Nope, the rear bushes shouldn't really flex that much. ( does your steering wheel shake on heavy braking ? ) You can replace them for about £18 per bush and if that don't cure the knocking then wishbone replacement is another option (approx £100 each ). |

Title: Re: 2 questions on 2.0l 16v Post by Simmo on Jul 21st, 2006, 5:25am I had the rear wishbone bushes replaced recently, prior to the MOT, as there was slight movement in them and the anti roll bar bushes. The front end is now silent. The drop links were checked but were ok. |

Title: Re: 2 questions on 2.0l 16v Post by mazzy_j on Jul 21st, 2006, 9:41am Theres a new pair knocking about on ebay for £38 i think it was. I got mine for about £22ish each from Fords. Right pig to do if they're seized on because of the shape of the nut and bolt you can't get a nutsplitter on them. Had to hacksaw mine off in the end. Edit: Found them! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Scorpio-front-stabiliser-link-bar-1-pair_W0QQitemZ140009415669QQihZ004QQcategoryZ21654QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem £35, probably about the same as from Ford's for 1! Title: Re: 2 questions on 2.0l 16v Post by jonnycab on Jul 21st, 2006, 10:27am I got a new pair of drop links from my local car shop for £15.99 each. So a starting bid of £35 would seem a little excessive unless they are genuine Ford parts :) |

Title: Re: 2 questions on 2.0l 16v Post by irratic on Jul 21st, 2006, 1:17pm thanks for the replies on the bushes .....one more question... if i jack the car up, drivers side worse.... hold the wheel 9 and 3 oclock and rock it it flexes on the front rear bush... of which you already say it should'nt do...the bush is not a solid bush but seems to be attached only top and bottom (within the bush) with rubber not side to side.. is that correct??? or should the supporting rubber be side to side??? hope that makes sense. i no what i mean......lol |

Title: Re: 2 questions on 2.0l 16v Post by allenjames on Jul 21st, 2006, 5:22pm around town i get 18-20mpg. on a run, I get 33-35mpg. |

Title: Re: 2 questions on 2.0l 16v Post by Simmo on Jul 21st, 2006, 8:06pm There should be no significant movement. If you can achieve movement by simply waggling the wheel then I would suggest you've got a problem. |
