Hello Lads, can the 7000 radio cd/changer be replaced by 6006e easily

The 6006e was taken out of my old 97 cossie , the controls work from the steering wheel. but can i get an adaptor for the wireing or does it need to be rewired.

I have one fitted in mine (no more running round to the boot to change the CD's  ;D) so as fordcos rightly says it can be done, but you loose the steering wheel remote. What you need, i think, is a compatable interface, say from a focus which had that stereo in originally along with the steering controls.

This would be an excellent idea if it works, but having examined the 7000 against the 6006e on ebay the connections on the back don't look quite the same. Does it need adapter leads or wiring in by other means?

I'd be really happy to see the back of my ultima estates boot-located cd changer as it skips over bumps in the road. :(

In fact, further to my above post, does anyone know if there is an alternative cd autochanger that could replace the one i've got, preferably with anti shock? Are the connector sockets standard or do they all differ? Apologies if this has been asked before.

The connections do go into the back ok, use just need to cut off one of the plastic 'quide rail' bits (on the edge of each connector) on one of the connectors i think it was. If you get it you'll see what one i mean. Then you just plug the connectors in as per normal.

This may be of use if you get a non-ford stereo...

Thanks for the help, Matt. I'll save a few pennies and then buy a used 6006e unit.  I don't like changing the unit from a 7000 as it makes the whole thing a bit unoriginal, but the cd changer isn't very good at handling the bumpy roads here in Wales, so it'll have to go.
