Title: rumble 2
Post by MEATMAN on Jul 26th, 2006, 11:35pm
hi
finally sourced the rumbling noise it is the front passenger side wheel bearing now the fun bit on trying to remove the bearing i have sheared the head off the bolt that holds the hub to the strut,
anyway i thought i would try to repair the bearing in situ
got both circlips out and the bearing was moving nicely until  i managed to push all the ball bearings out and left the outside bearing housing in the caliper i cannot shift it it is stuck firmly inside the caliper any ideas how to get it out will be welcome.
if i cant get it repaired by friday im up the creek without a paddle.
ive tried sawing it out, chiseling, wd 40, the inside of the caliper is as rusty as hell .
and to top it all i cant take the caliper to a bench because of the bolt that sheared on the strut
is it possible to remove the strut and caliper in one without the need for spring compressers etc
any ideas chaps

Yes had to do it on a Granada to save the abs sensor as they are rather pricey.

Just disconnect the brake hose, & the abs sensor.
