Title: Valve body for Autobox.
Post by dinodelta on Jul 28th, 2006, 10:18am
I am looking for a new replacement valve body for my 2.0 16v autobox. I have found several for the 4R44E box in America and they are priced at around £40-60 but the part codes don't match up with Ford UKs part numbers.
Went to my local Ford dealer and the price for the valva body in the UK is a glorious £640!
Anyone know a knowledgable autobox repairer or someone who has used the sleave kits available to reseat the drive solenoids?

Morning and welcome.

Whereabouts are you, there is a listing on the site with some suggestions, scroll down to Transmissions on this page. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/dealers.htm.

I dont know if anybody over here has experience of the 4R44E box which I believe superceded the A4LD box in the states. On yours, you have an A4LDE with electronic overdrives, I suspect the E in 4R44 is for electronic, but I don't know if they are interchangeable.

I personally have used John Lugo transmissions in Manchester for previous auto work on a mk3 A4LD and found them to be very helpful.  Their web address is: http://www.automatictransmissions.co.uk/index.htm

Good luck

Geoff ;)

Do the solenoids definitely not come off the valve block?  I'd be very suprised if they didn't and if they do then take a few from a scrap 'box.  Or did you mean the servo pistons...?
