Thought i'd be good and check all my levels on my cossie! Stupid i know but i can't get my auto transmission dip stick to go back in it goes about 2/3rds of the way in and stops have tried turning as i put it in (Dip stick not me!) still no joy. Any ideas please as i've got to drive to west wales tomorrow and wife giving me one of those looks!  {}

Success!! Got angry with it and pushed harder than you would want to/expect to  have to and it went in. Hope nowts broken now but dont want to take it out again till i get back just in case i can't get in again. Does anyone elses need a lot of encouraging? :-/

Have you had any work done on the box? the pipe is a push fit at the bottom and then has a small bracket which bolts it in place, i've seen one or two that havent had the bracket refitted and are just pushed on, maybe yours has come loose

Yeah,   twisting   it  as  you   insert   in     ( where have I heard that before  ;) ) usually   does  the  trick .

      However,    dipstick  fitment  is not  crucial   the   dipstick  tube  should   be   covered   up    to   prevent  ingess of  dirt   and  stuff.

Cheers, only had car 2 months, think previous owner had a recon auto box fitted. Eveything about the box is good (No judders etc) Thanks highlander will check the bracket fitment later, can you get to it from top of engine or is it an underneath job?
