Title: Imminent gearbox failure??
Post by km449 on Aug 12th, 2006, 2:04pm
Started car this morning, (2.3 97 Ultima Estate, 139k) and drove off quite happily. Went to move off from the first give way and for a few seconds there was no drive, (scary moment) followed by a clonk and since then car has been fine.

Autobox colour oil is spot on.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Keith

COuld be a lot of things, suggest you get a scan done if possible but sticking Solenoid, low on ATF  ABD scan will tell all.

Blocked gearbox oil filter would produce such a fault, have you had the oil + filter changed recently? t cured this porblem on mine 18 months ago.

Hi would dip oil level first.  Must have engine running and selector in park.  Regards Dave.
