23ltr started car today moved it off the drive no probs left it ticking over for 5 mins ,jumped back in put it in to drive the car was vibrating ???and only craling at a slow pace ,,put it into r it bangs in ....switch the car off then restarted it strate away drove with no probs... help wat is it .........................oil in the box redish but not brown with any burning smells...oil seems ok.... ???

my gearbox does exactly the same, every now and then, its done it since i owned the car (6 yrs) and hasn't got any worse. i have changed the oil and filter, didnt really help, nor did a new maf.
like you say, restart the car and all is fine, gearchanges spot on etc.
i had my car scanned twice, once it showed no faults, and the second time it showed two faults, one of the faults read -reverse pressure solenoid low/ fail-, cant remember the other off hand.
i broke a car, just for the gearbox, and sold it to another member here who badly needed one, (i got used to the cars behavior by then)
good news is its not terminal mate, just go easy on engaging reverse (let the revs build gradually), if i can find my old, old post, ill put a link up

If I were to give a wild guess, it would be cracked insulation somewhere on the wiring. But take that as a wild guess (not even an educated wild guess ;-))

found prob the gearbox pipes had rusted a pin hole in them,lost some fluid and also 1 coil pack ,failed too,two wires had stuck together ford crap wiring too thin under the bonnet....thanks too you all yet againg..hope too see you all on september 3rd,,,at billing.for all granaders together............
