Title: Interior Lights
Post by proberjohn on Aug 23rd, 2006, 3:27pm
Been away for a long weekend and the Scorpio performed wonderfully all around the hills, glens and lochs of the Trossachs but noticed last night on getting stuff out of the car that the interior lights were not working!!

Well straight onto the website, got all the info, and today started to fault find.  CTM chimed away on diagnostics so pulled fuses - oopps have i got the radio code?? (yes) - and all ok so tried the Power Saver relay.  The relay is not pulling in even though there is continuity across the coil so I reckon it's that.  Lights work when I manually operate the relay so it's off the FMD tomorrow.

I presume that it's a standard stock relay that I don't need a new mortgage to buy!!

The website proves it's worth again  :) :) :)

Sorted ;)

New relay £9.79

Finis No.  F6149337

Relay No.  81AG 14NO89 CA

Only one in stock at my FMD (none now!!!).
Fitted this am, this one clicks as you put it in and all the interior lights work again (I don't use the remote but I presume that would now).

Resistance across coil terminals was around 60ohms - the failed one was showing around 500ohms so I reckon the coil had failed and I was just measuring some sort of surge supression resistor across the coil

Serves me right 'cause I was only telling my son-in-law last week how all the car lights up when you open a door what with the overhead and footwell lights!!!!
