Title: Pinching granada bits
Post by buffio on Aug 26th, 2006, 5:27pm
Well it's that time of year again, and my baby has been to the (previously pretty fair) FMD for it's MOT and that precious final Ford stamp to finish off the service book.

Having gone in thinking this might not be that painful, and with everything looking OK, I got a call to say that sadly it had failed. On further investigation looks like their idea of an MOT included attacking the exhaust with a hammer and gouging holes in a gaiter on the NS steering rack joint.

Needless to say I wasn't chuffed, and they weren't very sympathetic to my protest that it hadn't been pishing PAS fluid or leaking fumes prior to them having it, so I've now nursed it back home to consider my options.

Anyway, I've now had a mate tell me he knows of a couple of late model granadas getting broken that are in pretty good nick, including a recently replaced exhaust and, ahem, 'nearly new' steering rack. Sooo...

Anybody know if they'd be any use for me and my wee '96 2 litre Scorp?

Just  replace  the   perforated  gaiter  rather  than  the  whole  rack ?

s'easy ,    unscrew  the  track  rod   from   the   rod-end  balljoint.
