Title: Vibration in steering wheel when turning left
Post by kanor on Aug 30th, 2006, 7:51am
After replacing brakedisks on both front wheels my 1995 2,0 16v started to make vibrations when turning the steering wheel to left. Its ok while turning right. It happends at any speed but is most noticerable while parking.  (My car is leftside driven since i live in Norway)
Is it possible that I could have damaged the steering in any way while replacing brakedisks or what ? ???

Sometimes when the front has been raised and the wheels suspended the steering rack gets air in it. Try raising the front so the weight is off the wheels but they are just touching the ground. Start the car and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock a few times but DO NOT HOLD it in the full lock position. This should remove any air. You can put the front on wet grass or old newspaper in order to take the strain off the steering rack but it is better to raise it on a jack if you can.

While standing on gravel ground I turned from lock to lock a few times and problem disapeared  :D
Thanks for good adwise ;) (For a while I was afraid I had damaged the power steering in any way...)
