Title: Lumpy/rough idle when hot after a day. Post by Butterfingers on Sep 3rd, 2006, 12:30pm If I leave my Scorpio for a day and don't drive it, I notice that the idle goes rough when the engine heats up. It's fine when the engine is cold though. It doesn't seem to affect the gear changes however, that is still quite smooth. After stopping for a while the problem gradually dissappers with the engine still hot. If I drive it every day there is no real problem. But problem only occurs when it has been standing for a day or more and then I get rough idling when the engine heats up. Thanks. Any ideas please. Its a 2.3 Ultima auto. |

Post by Octavian_P on Sep 4th, 2006, 8:58am Maybe the IACV is sticking, i also have a 2.3 (manual)...and had similar problems.....it sorted out by geting the IACV out, cleaning it with lots of carb cleaner, and then a few drips of oil on the interior shaft (do not use WD40 in this case !!), now it idles smooth as silk. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/iacvdata.htm |
