Post by Gremlin on Sep 8th, 2006, 9:01pm
Hi guys 'n' Gals
just thought i would put ya in the picture spent last weeeknd cleaning polishing etc etc and the car she looked loverly  then Wednesady early morning got in from work  had a cup of tea got into bed then i heard a massive Crash  got up looked outside and all i could see was a strip of something laying on the road.. didnt see anything untoward so i get back into bed wondering what i see in the road........

Nope cant sleep wondering what this item is so get dressed goto the car and shock horror its by door trim on the floor then i look at the car and from the indicator on the drivers wing all the way to the back bumper is a massive scrtach dent scrape and what ever else you want to call it.after looking at it and r=tears streaming dowwn my face (yes i will admit it) i call the local Police and tell what i see etc etc and they sau thanks for the call we will get back to you.insurance company want to write it off and i say no damm you this is a classic and it aint going to no scrappies not for love nor more especially after they offered 700 minus my excess for her..only prob i now have is that the body shops are quoting  me anything from 1500 to 3000 for a full repair.. but im sure i can do it cheaper alot cheaper in fact the doors and bumper are not a major issue as shaun has some (hint hint)  just need to find a decent panel beater/repairer for the rear wing and wheel arch any ideas for Kent area would be appreciated.Whilst typing this just got a call from one offering to repair only wheel arch and wing 225 is this about right

Sorry to bore you lot and ty for listening  well at least reading it

Bad luck, hate it when that happens.

DON'T let them write it off, they will try but there are ways around it. Our family Capri got shunted about 10 years ago (similar to what happened to your Scorpio), the list price for the Capri was about £300 then (damage valued at £1800) but this car had a £2000 restoration 10 months earlier and with a £2500 valuation from Capri Club they coughed up the money (took 7 months but they coughed up).

Panels are expensive, I priced a rear bumper when I bought mine and got a shock, see if someone on here who's breaking a Scorp can let you have some parts ;).

Good luck. Regards, Bruce.

its horrible when things like this happen to ya car ???

what colour is your car?

if you could get the parts in the same colour it would save you the money on the respray for them

im sure there will be lots of people from the site that will be able to help you with the parts you need .

Never take the first offer & some times not even the second. This is what we are up against now as even small damage is enough cost wise to write a 8 plus year old car off.you could try some local car clubs as they may know of a painter etc that does private work.
