Title: Re: Radiator Cold, Car Hot Post by TiberiuS on Sep 27th, 2006, 6:16pm Airlock? radiator blocked with sludge? Does the car run at a reasonable temp? if the cooling system isn't well, it'll let you know soon enough ;) |

Title: Re: Radiator Cold, Car Hot Post by Matt on Sep 27th, 2006, 6:20pm which radiator are you touching? the cooling system can only be touched from inside the engine bay as the air con rad sits in front (thats the one you can see) |

Title: Re: Radiator Cold, Car Hot Post by Matt on Sep 27th, 2006, 7:19pm they should flick on and off as and when needed, they have 2 speeds slow (i think when either the ac or normal coolant temp) and the fast is when both are on, the front rad (the one you can see) is just the ac, it's the same size as the coolant rad but not as thick, then the main rad is behind that, hidden by the front cross panel some cars have 3 rads! a third is an oil cooler for the auto box which sits under the main rad, slightly forward, you cant miss it if you look under the car |

Title: Re: Radiator Cold, Car Hot Post by sector-9 on Sep 28th, 2006, 8:58pm The design of the fan circuit is such that both fans should run together at the same speed (either slow or fast, depending on engine temp and if a/c is on or not). If only one fan is working then you need to investigate if power is getting to the non-running fan. On my diesel I found the wiring which is clipped to the front crossmember and passes in front of the radiator had burnt out and disintegrated - this is the wiring for the fan circuit and EGR (on the diesel anyhow).
