Title: Cossie 95 wire loom in V replacement
Post by arnse on Sep 28th, 2006, 8:20pm
Hello,
Does anyone know the original Ford part no. for this loom located in the "V" with connections to all injectors +++?
My Ford dealer in Norway will charge me 2800 pounds and claim that is for the entire engine wiring, and they can not find
any other parts!!! I do believe this has been discussed on this site somethime and are very happy for any advice.
Brgds.
Arnfinn :(

I'm not certain about your part but I know some looms have been discontinued. You may end up doing what some of us have had to do, make a new one ;)

£2800 is a bit steep for a loom to say the least, the low to mid hundreds sounds about the mark.

Hope this helps, Bruce.

The best way regarding the connectors is like me and Simmo were discussing, try and source some from a different part of a loom from another (newer) Ford, Mondeo has the same connectors, not sure about Focus although I'd guess they are.

You need some specialist supplies (sleeving etc) and suitable wire, I used aviation grade stuff last time (had reels of it already ;)) but if you redo a complex loom you may be better trying to source automotive cable in case of running into trouble mixing up the colour codes. Also bear in mind that wire thickness will become an issue on complex parts of the loom where they pass through casings, grommets etc. Some of the better quality cable has much thicker sheathing than the Ford stuff.

The Ford connectors do come apart but if they've suffered the heat they tend to break apart in the process.

It is tricky and needs masses of care but it is possible. If I ever haul the Capri out of the garage that'll need a complete rewire, last time I looked the looms were skinning all over.

Regards, Bruce.

These (http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.uk/) people have a tremendous range of equipment.BUT... the connectors(junior timer housings) are NOT compatible with our cars. I sent them a sample to check. The guy tells me the Ford connectors are unique to Ford. Mondeo ones do appear the same BUT unless you are able to dismantle the connector you would need to join the wires before they enter the connector. As Bruce says you can remove the internal terminals but it is a soul destroying job. Needless to say  Fords do not supply connectors separately. You could try These people too (http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/).
