If you look at the diagram which Andrew has put up you will see item 13,Heater blower control. If you remove this, two screws and an electrical connection, you can see into the chamber sufficiently to spray some WD40 on the blower motor. This, sometimes coupled with a GENTLE push with a suitable 'probe', is often enough to get the motor spinning again. If you look at the link for HBC fan repair on the same page the first photograph shows you where I'm talking about. The remainder will show you what is inside the chamber to give you an idea of the set-up. Let us know how you get on.

Hi again, i bypassed the hbc and joined the joined the cables as i saw on another post and the fan run perfectly, also i noticed that the single wire going to the top of the hbc has only got 4.5v when i think it says it should be 12v. Any more ideas, is the hbc faulty, can i repair it ?. thanks...... colin

I am sure the HBC is not repairable. Best bet is ask on 'Parts wanted' for a secondhand one or if there is a member local to you perhaps you could swop and make sure it is 'duff'. I take it you've read THIS? (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/hbctest.htm) as to how to test it.

Then why on the diagram does it say
white/blue   control signal t1
brown/blue  control signal t2
when there is only 1 wire going in.
It is a two wire connection but it looks like there has only ever been 1 wire fitted.

Sorry that is beyond me but you are right in that there is only one wire fitted. Just had a look at mine. The colours refer to the connectors on either side of the HBC surely. They are shown clearly Here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/aircon.htm) and This wiring diagram (http://www.carsoft.ru/avtorepair/sierra/aircondSATC2.pdf) may help.

Update.....after removing the hbc and putting it back on again i had to pop out for something and lo and behold the fan is now working... :D :D :D
Fingers crossed that it will stay that way.
(must have been dodgy connections)

And no the colours of the cables on either side are
 purple & black......purple/another colour & black

Nope...tried it this morning and its back to not working, unless there is something in the hbc that breaks down it must still be a dodgy connetion or even the switch i will continue probing.  ???
