What do you mean by playing up?

Do you mean the car wont start whens its been running?
Does it start ok from cold?

Ok, so its a problem starting when the engine is warm, if its left a while it starts ok?

Faulty fuel pressure regulator?

Or fusebox/wiring looms

The only way to rule out bad electrics is to get a meter on and start checking fuses and relays. If the battery is at fault it won't crank, you'll get the shooting dials symptoms and the fast clicking of the starter relay where the battery can't provide enough voltage. You'll most likely keep losing the code on your radio too.

If it turns over ok on the starter it's more likely to be a fuel/sensor fault.

Regards, Bruce.

I've heard of a few that crank over fine Bruce but they wont fire at all. A new battery cures it.
I dont think thats the problem here though

I had a similar problem...car started fine when cold, but when it was warm, it didn't want to know.
It turned over, but wouldn't start. It would only start after 2 or 3 attempts.

Turned out to be the fuel rail pressure regulator....new one is £40 from Fords. :)
