Title: locks through a wobbly today!
Post by Butterfingers on Dec 13th, 2006, 1:54pm
I changed the batteries over in my remote as the car was not responding.

Soon as I put the batteries in the boot flew open. Then as I was inside the car, the doors kept on locking and unlocking! Finally they stayed in the locked position and for the life of me I couldn't open the door! I was locked in!

Luckily my sunroof still works. I was able to open this lean outside and unlock the car from the outside. Otherwise I was f****d! I weren't even at home!

But after that the car calmed down and is behaving as it should.

Wierd!

Thanks.
Following yesterdays brief spasm, the car is now not responding to the remote key fob. The remote key fob does work and has fresh batteries in it.

Where would be the best place to start trying to find the fault?

Are there any fuses or earths I can check?

Many, many thanks.

B, The usual cause of the locks going mad is that there is a dodgy connection in one of the locks. ie: the lock is not fully 'home' or the door is not secured. If the car is not responding to the fob how do you know it IS working?  ???

Are the fuse boxes nice and dry ? all the covers in place ? drain holes clean ? I also advise you to add some silica-gel bags in the fuseboxes. It keeps them nice and dry.

Simmo,

After the spasm yesterday, the remote was working fine for a bit. I walked away and after a few hours it decided not to respond.

It did the same briefly over the summer but was fine after a few days.

What about resetting the fuel cut off switch?
