Title: climate control problems Post by youmitegetian on Dec 21st, 2006, 9:55pm Can anyone give me an idea as to what mite be wrong with my climate control please? it was working fine but has since developed some faults, when the car has warmed up it always blows out hot air regardless of what the temperature is set at and also the recycled air and air conditioning buttons dont appear to work anymore. I've tried resetting it but cant get it to display the oo mode, ie when i hold the 2 buttons in for 10 seconds nothing happens. :( :( |

Title: Re: climate control problems Post by Paul B on Dec 21st, 2006, 9:59pm Could be a faulty switch panel :-/ There's plenty of breakers about so you might find one ok (they're expensive to buy new) |

Title: Re: climate control problems Post by Paul B on Dec 21st, 2006, 10:11pm Sorry, I misunderstood. Thought you meant the LCD bits weren't working at all. You read this?...www.fordscorpio.co.uk/aircon (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/aircon.htm) It might give a starting point |

Title: Re: climate control problems Post by youmitegetian on Dec 21st, 2006, 10:21pm yeah read that but only really tells how it works, and the reset method that it links too doesn't work, or at least i cant get to the mode settings in the first place. |

Title: Re: climate control problems Post by Jim on Dec 22nd, 2006, 12:31am It does tend to look like the control unit which is on the other end of the ribbon cable behind the switch panel but the majic 'disconect battery for ten minutes' cures many problems. Remember radio codes first though. |

Title: Re: climate control problems Post by jonnycab on Dec 22nd, 2006, 3:02am Could be a sensor problem.... Outside temp sensor? (on evaporator) Inside car temp sensor? (small grill on control panel) I think Jim means the Semi Automatic Temperature Control unit (SATC)......it's a possibility :) |

Title: Re: climate control problems Post by jonnycab on Dec 23rd, 2006, 8:53pm Have you checked to see that the ribbon cable multiplug that goes into the back of the control panel is sitting tightly & that both side clamps are properly in place. A loose multiplug can cause these problems :) |

Title: Re: climate control problems Post by youmitegetian on Dec 23rd, 2006, 9:06pm Haven't checked that, is it easy to get the front panel off?? did disconnect the battery but that has made no difference at all. |

No, not really. Its a bit of a pig on your first go. You have to be quite careful. Back to the main site again... CLICK HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/fasciabulbs.htm) Part way down the page is a description for removing the heater panel (high series vehicles) That will give you some clues. |

Title: Re: climate control problems Post by jonnycab on Dec 24th, 2006, 12:38am Hmmm...if you haven't taken the control panel off already, then it is unlikely that the multiplug would have come loose........unless a previous owner had a go at it? ;) |

Title: Re: climate control problems Post by youmitegetian on Dec 24th, 2006, 10:01am could it be a fuse or relay?? have had the usual fuse box prolems recently which led to the auxillery fuse box needing some work. |

Title: Re: climate control problems Post by youmitegetian on Jan 7th, 2007, 5:11pm Finally got it sorted, first prize goes to Jim who was correct ;D, the control unit was at fault, took a while to get the unit swapped over but at last i have climate. |
