Any one got any tips on fixing locks that wont work with the key,cant keep folding down the back seat to get into the boot..lol

my car is a 95 scorpio ultima 16v.

George... daft question, did it ever open the boot (could be the wrong lock for the key?

Or if it did, it sounds like the key or the lock is wearing. Do you have spare keys to try? If it is the lock that is wearing, I would recommend getting the lock rebuilt using the Ford kit which is still available from the local dealer (Ford not drugs!!) Quite a cheap option apparently. I'm sure someone will pop in with the details

Also, try removing the lock altogether and give it a good cleaning with WD40 or similar. The lock is only held onto the boot with a spring clip so is easy to take out and put back.

Also, just as a side post, it is always recommended to have spare keys for the car (including a red master one) before you get to the situation I once found my self in; where I needed spare keys but only had one black key....then I lost it!! Took a week to find it again....

A tin of WD40 and plenty elbow grease! slowly work it with ther key, most of these boots will have been opened by the remote all their life and the locks just seize up.

I've never been beaten by one yet and i've done a few like that, longest one took a whole hour :)

Thanks for the tips lads,have tried wd40 no luck,will probably just have to take it to bits and clean it. :)
