Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by reflector on Dec 29th, 2006, 2:51pm a900one will take a look but i do have fuel at front of motor |

Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by sector-9 on Dec 30th, 2006, 1:31am Doubt it'll be this but check compression - if it's got fuel and sparks then it should run unless no compression - hopefully not caused by timing chain failure! Darren |

Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by reflector on Jan 1st, 2007, 6:27pm Hi Darren I tried to check for compression then found that the spark plugs must have fitted by a miner. Have not got a long extention to reach them. I will try again as it seems to be a more logical next check than the immobilizer. thanks Baz |

Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by reflector on Jan 1st, 2007, 6:49pm Hey Scorpio man Have just reread your message, have just found the links referred to in this or this. ?the immobilizer is not a press button so i'm thinking that mine has been swapped because i have to physically put my key fob to the switch on the dash which allows me to start the car. second link CPS he says he has no spark has to be worth a look if i haveone on car. any way thanks for your time. baz |

Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by reflector on Jan 13th, 2007, 11:56pm thank you very much for putting up with a mk 3 owner but i'm glad to say that i'm now a proud owner of a 2.0ltr ultimar. Unfortunately it has a few probs which I'm sure you good people can help me sort. This motor cost me 25 pounds because the previous owner couldn't be bothered to replace a water pump. Thats a good buy!!! |

Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by Baz on Jan 14th, 2007, 12:45am £25.00?? :o I spend more than that on breakfast!! That is a bargain. Do we get some photos now? |

Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by Scorpius on Jan 14th, 2007, 6:53pm I once brought a Facelift Mk111 2.0l that wouldn't start and it was the CAS. (Crank angle sensor). £5 to buy and 1/2 max to fit. Well done on the Scorpio. What probs are you having with it? Ian |

Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by reflector on Jan 14th, 2007, 8:09pm Hi Guys Thanks for your messages and Harry it was £25. Now I have a problem I do not have a manual so if I ask this Question do need to start a new Thread or can I continue from here |

Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by Simmo on Jan 14th, 2007, 8:17pm The handbook details are HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/handbook.htm) if that is what you are after. |

Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by reflector on Jan 14th, 2007, 8:21pm Hi Ian One problem I have is no heating. It has a/c but not working, that I do know because the pump is u/s and has been bi-passed on the pulley, but would the heaters still work or is it a/c run to warm the car. any answers gratefully received thanks baz |

Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by Simmo on Jan 14th, 2007, 8:25pm Read THIS (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/aircon2.htm) and check out the links down the side as well. |

Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by Scorpius on Jan 14th, 2007, 9:14pm Oh hell, I am in the same boat there regarding no heat. there are loads of threads in the forum on the subject and it seems its worth flushing the heater first, but most likely its the heat exchanger gone. Either way, the AC system should not stop the heater working. I have had these cars before where the AC ewas out but heaters were fine. Use the "search" function at the top of the page to search the forums for heater and AC related problems that other members have had. What engine size is yours? Ian |
||
Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by reflector on Jan 16th, 2007, 6:30pm hi ian My engine size is 2.0ltr .The query relates to the fact that i have no heater blower and i thought it might be connected to A/C so if they work independant i have to start looking elsewhere. thanks for your reply I'll start seaching forum for possibilities baz |

Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by Scorpius on Jan 16th, 2007, 9:39pm Ah, sorry, my bad. The blower motor is known to get noisy and then stop, but it could be something else. Have you checked the obvious like fuses/relays? Ian |
||
Title: Re: old scorpio wont start Post by Simmo on Jan 16th, 2007, 10:12pm Try reading THIS (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/fanrepair.htm). The blower motor can be accessed initially by removing the HBC unit and spraying some WD40 in there. Someone did this recently and it certainly quietened the motor. If you have Climate Control you should read through THIS (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/aircon.htm). Particularly the re-set procedure and testing the HBC. |
