Title: Mobile aerial removal
Post by Chieftain on Feb 13th, 2007, 9:25am
Hi anyone any good suggestions for safely removing a mobile aerial that is attached to the rear window, dont need it as my hands free uses an internal aerial.  Had thought of running a suitable solvent around it (making a dam so solvent does not run all over paint work etc)

hi there

i'd maybe take to a windscreen place and get them to remove it. they have all the stuff to plug the hole, etc.

No  hole to plug, it is one of these self adhesive types with aerial on outside and matching part on inside, it appears that the one fitted is one of the best for adhesive properties, as we all know that sort of thing usually holds for a while then gives up the ghost.

I had one on my rear window & managed to just pull it off.

Pull it sideways (as though peeling it off) & with a little careful effort, it should shift. Hopefully the sticky pad should come off with it as well  :)

Doesn't help much right now but I have found that these sort of things are better done on a hot day. the glue seams to be softer some how.

Use a good hair dryer (not kidding) and a soft knife. The glue wil usually soften with heat.

Worked a treat on both the mobile arial and glue-on sticker on mine.
