Title: Rear Road Springs
Post by Mike_Floutier on Feb 15th, 2007, 8:20am
I've re-started this question as I just realised that I buried it at the end of another "mixed" topic - hope that's ok.

I'd ordered the springs along with the drop-links and rubber pads that sit on top of the springs and though I'd had the springs for some time, the rubber pads only arrived today and this has highlighted a possible problem.

When trial fitting the rubber pads, it became obvious that whilst they would fit on one end ok, the other end was slightly too big - exact same difference on each spring.

Does anyone know if this is right, ie. the bottom of the spring is slightly larger than the top?

Thanks

Mike

Martin, Have a look at THIS (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/suspension.htm). Click on 'front shockers.'...the diagram actually says rear and shows the springs. Unless my eyes deceive me the top of the spring appears smaller. Does this help?.

MIke. Whilst at the breakers today I saw a roadspring laying by the rear of one of the cars complete with the rubbers. No doubt, the ends are totally different sizes and so are the rubbers. HTH Mike.
