you could also check the glove box light (infamous for staying on)....
shouldn't discharge the battery overnight, not unless yours is not in the best of health

The warning instrument (Horn) is NOT the alarm horn. They are totally separate. The normal horn is situated under the f/o/s bumper. It is controlled by fuse no:9 in the central (drivers side) fusebox and relay no; 7 in the same box. The alarm horn is situated on the bulkhead behind the battery. The glove box lamp,as has been said, together with the cigar lighter and the boot light are all possible sources of battery drain. When you say you haven't got a horn do you mean ithe warning instrument doesnt work, it isn't fitted or that the alarm horn is not there?. Have you got a battery cover fitted and is there any sign of moisture round or,worse still, in the fuseboxes?.

I brought a brand new battery yesterday, Ford wanted £100  but managed to knok them down to £60.
I will check the glove box light. I have no horn on the steering wheel checked fuse 9 and is ok I will have to check the wiring and relays then. Which fuse controls the alarm horn

There is no specific fuse listed for the alarm that I can see. Fuses 16 and 17 in the central fusebox are listed as 'electronics' so that could be a start. Maybe someone more experienced will be able to clarify. As far as the warning instrument is concerned my first check would be the horn itself. Easy to remove and only wants power across it to check if it's working.
