Title: Funny 'curry' smell
Post by smitheagle on Feb 19th, 2007, 10:29am
When i turn the heating from cold to hot, even when i havent got the heater on, im getting a faint smell that can only be described as a 'curry powder' kind of smell. 2 friends noticed it at first when they got in the car on Saturday, then after fiddling about with the heating, t turned out that from just turning the knob from cold to hot, a 'waft' come through??

I bought a 'Magic Tree' but wondered exactly whats causing it.

:o ???

Its the heater matrix leaking, its probably just a slight drip but the burning coolant does smell like curry as you say. complete dash removal needed to replace the matrix though  :-/

The curry smell is listed on the fault finder under interior coolant leaks and wet footwell

Although it might be helpful if "Curry Smell" was given its own "fault status" on the fault finder as it is possible to smell it without necessarily having an obvious coolant leak on the floor (Admin?)  ;D

I actually cannot believe there is an answer for this. I was expecting many 'lols' and silly comments. Imagine my surprise when there IS a reason, already listed, AS a 'curry smell'

Cheers Highlander!!

This site has every possible problem covered :)
