Title: How do I remove the time clock
Post by dogma on Feb 21st, 2007, 12:06pm
Hi all, the time clock is sadly not working and not sure why, would like to remove it to check connections etc but not sure on how. I dont fancy sticking screw drivers down the side incase i damage the walnut finish. Has anyone else had this problem or found a good way of removing.
Many thanks  ;D

You certainly won't get the clock out that way. You WILL damage the finish.

You've got to remove the radio and fascia. Looks like a big job, but it isn't really. Be sure you've got the code for your radio before you start.

Remove the radio. Remove the screws above the radio holding the fascia in place, then remove the screws above the speedometer which hold the fascia in place.

CAREFULLY.....like VERY CAREFULLY. Prise the fascia away from the dash, and you should be able to get to the clock. You may well have to remove the clock to replece the bulb, as the bulb is in a little 'tunnel' which makes getting it out virtually impossible unless your fingers are pin sized.

I did a modification to mine, so that I don't have to take the whole dash out again just to replace a bulb. You can read the thread.

HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Advice;action=display;num=1157649685;start=4#4)

When replacing the radio, spend a little time making 100% sure that all the cables are firm in their connectors.......you don't want to have to take it all out again.  :o

Sorry Roy, didn't mean to hijack your post. The instructions for removing the fascia are quite vague though. I thought it might help him if he knew exactly where the screws are etc etc, not to mention the radio code.
