Title: 24v Rumbling PAS Post by mazzy_j on Mar 3rd, 2007, 10:33pm Hi all, if i quickly turn the steering more than half a turn on my '95 cossie whilst either stationary or driving at very low speed it makes a rumbling kind of noise which you can feel through the steering wheel. Looking on the fault finder page it suggests replacing a high pressure steering pipe (wherever that may be), is this the solution or could it be something else? Matt |

Title: Re: 24v Rumbling PAS Post by Octavian_P on Mar 3rd, 2007, 10:50pm Hi there, the cure it's simple, find a grass patch or use some old papers under the front wheels, rev the engine to about 1200 - 1500 rpm and make 2-3 complete turns of the steering wheel. This rumbling appears in general with the presence of air in the system. It is also a side effect of lifting the car, and letting the front wheels in air. |

Title: Re: 24v Rumbling PAS Post by Octavian_P on Mar 3rd, 2007, 11:13pm To be sincere i never took the cap of, it usually sorted out by some "tight cornering around the block" making my neighbors think i'm drunk and driving ;D |

Title: Re: 24v Rumbling PAS Post by jonnycab on Mar 4th, 2007, 1:08am Octavian is probably right....if the front wheels have been off the ground, then it tends to rumble/vibrate for a while. It usually settles down after a few miles :) Unless the PS pump is on the way out, or the belt is slipping :-/ |
