i dont know what sort of tensioner it has on a cossie, but usually when they squeek it just needs tightning up.some type of cars have a spring loaded one, others need doing manually.it may also have a seperate belt for the pas pump, again check the tension

Tensioners have been known to sieze. Check to see if it moves freely, it does take considerable force to move it.

If the tension is correct then something it drives is tight. Could be the PAS pump if it squeels on full lock as well as start up.

Take the belt off and check the driven units individualy to find out if one of them is tight.

It also could  be a  worn   belt.

Give it a squirt of WD40  before start up,   if it don't squeak,    it's   the belt !

its a new belt, theres no point in taking everything if you cant be bothered to change a simple belt

could the belt be slipping because i havent got a AC belt on, just the the main belt is on the car

Mine is a 2.3 so don't realy know the set up. If without the ac belt pulling the oposite way all the adjustment may be take out one way and the auto adjuster is running out of travel.

it has seperate adjusters for each side

I had this after putting on a new belt - turned out the belt was the wrong one - it was from a main dealer as well!

It was just a bit too long - if you look at the tensioner you should see a wear indicator - if the marks are too close it's the belt - if not I would check all the pullys to see if one is seizing!
