Hi there. Sorry for asking about a MK2 Scorpio, but I can't solve my problem, and maybe you guys could help me. So this is the story. My automatic gearbox stopped working, so I had to replace it with a second-hand gearbox. However its VSS sensor was not working well (It switched into gears at about 5000 rpm) so we used the old one's VSS. Everything is working fine except that it's not selecting the O/D at all. Could you help me in any way? Is it the VSS's faulty? It was working fine on the other car. If it is, could you help me how can I change it? Thank you!

The VSS could quite possibly cause the problem.
I had this on my Granada Scorpio and replcing the VSS fixed the problem.
I have just replaced a faulty VSS on my Cossie and while i had 4th gear OK, it was very hap hazard in its gear changes and it VERY fine now its fixed.

Also check the vacum pipes are ALL connected if I remember correctly 4th gear is like on the 12v Scorpio controlled by vacum.

Thank you for the replies. After we have replaced the gearbox, we checked all the vacuum pipes, because it was not working correctly, so the vacuum pipes are OK. It could be the VSS, I just thought that it worked properly on the other gearbox so it couldn't have gone bad. I'll check it soon. Thank you again!
