Title: electric window failure Post by pedropedro on Mar 30th, 2007, 9:27pm my drivers window suddenly stopped after pressing the one touch ...went half way then refused to budge up or down after 30 secs started working again........wonder if it was the memeory module having a glitch and cleared itself or is it likely to be the motor...anyone come across this ? john |

Title: Re: electric window failure Post by harry.m1byt on Mar 30th, 2007, 9:37pm The window motors have a temperature sensor built into them, to protect them from damage. Run them up and down too frequently in a short space of time, or hold the switch down too long and they will overheat failing to work until they cool down again. Was that the first time you had operated the window? |

Title: Re: electric window failure Post by pedropedro on Mar 30th, 2007, 9:44pm yes first time.......just pressed to drop it down ...stopped halfway ...all others worked fine......if it was contact issue would have made a half hearted attempt after a dozen or so presses....seemed after 30 secs of not using recovered guess i have to find out...is there any way of manually getting them up if it fails ,,,,,,short of taking door panel off |

It sounds like the motor protection (30 sec), rather than a contact problem. I would ignore it the first time and see if it happens again. You might try deliberately triggering the protection - run the window up and down continueously. After may be three or four up/downs it should stop - then start working around 30 seconds later. The only way is to take the door panel off, so best carry whatever is needed to do that just in case. |
