If you're in the AA/RAC then they can open the car for you.

One way to open it is to hold a philips screwdriver to the lock centre and hit it with a hammer.
Its likely to ruin the lock though.

If the keys are in the boot and you hammer into the boot lock with a philips screwdriver, the boot will open and you can get the keys out to open the door.
Problem is, it ruins the boot lock

Cmon guys, let's get real here.

The sort of toerags that break into cars don't give a monkeys toss about how much damage they cause to your car, my car, or any bu**ers car. They already KNOW how to smash locks, rip out ignition components and a whole lot more. That's why they are snivelling little car thieves.

Broken windows and shafted locks are the least of your worries. They will do that anyway. They don't need lessons from here.  They are quite expert at it.

Personally I'd just cut your losses and drill out the boot lock,  retrieve your keys, and then replace the boot lock. Certainly better than breaking windows.

For future. Tape a spare key somewhere under the car where only you know where it is. Disguise it as part of the wiring loom or something like that. Somewhere you can reach if you lock yourself out.

The chances of anyone finding it are nil if you do it properly.  ;)

Years ago when car security wasn't what it is now some manufacturers used to 'hide' a spare key somewhere on the car where you could reach if you lost yours...I know it got my old man out of trouble more than once, always losing his keys. Even when I had the XJ12 I heard someone say the factory used to bury a spare master key in the bonnet skin so you could pop the bonnet cable and get to it in an emergency....I looked at mine and sure enough found a brand new master key hidden between the double skin of the bonnet. That's besides the slot behind the rear number plate to pop the boot if you locked your keys in there..,doubt many cars got nicked because of it, they did it for too long.

Come on guys, not many scroats would need help in getting into a car, this thread is a week old anyway. When I park my car up any where dodgy now I deadlock it and switch the fuel pump relay (in the boot...easy) to a spare slot, the best form of immobiliser IMO. Yes I had my Scorp broken into once when it was parked in my street, I doubt they googled 'fordscorpio' to get instructions...made a right bloody mess of it...

Regards, Bruce :).

I think with all the drugs they are on they probably wouldn't be able to keep still long enough to read any instructions on here, if indeed they can read at all.... :P

A good idea is to stick the spare on with some silicone mastic, it can be disguised then.... it's easy enough to pull it off and it will be protected from the weather and salt....

Can't you just go to FMD with the V5 & proof of ID etc, & ask for them to retrieve the key code & cut a new key ?

That's what I did when I locked the keys in my Mondeo a few years back  :)
