Title: Part number help please
Post by Tim_Lusername on Apr 23rd, 2007, 1:21pm
Hi

As some of you probably know I’m a real noob when it comes to this car repair malarkey so I’m hoping you can help me with advice on getting parts. As my local Ford dealer is a right pain to get to I’m hoping I can get these parts on line. I was banking on using these guys
http://www.fordpartsuk.com/
But if anyone knows somewhere nearer Bristol that would be good.

Can someone tell me where I can find part numbers, or tell me what they are for the following bits of kit for a 1995 2.9 24v Cosworth?

Battery cover (surprise!) oh and the nut’s gone as well any idea on size to save me guessing although I assume it’s something metric and sensible not a daft size.

Top Rad (hose 2) and part of  the oil/coolant heat exchanger (hose 3) I just need the length between the engine and the T-piece connector
Hose numbers here - http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/leaks.htm

Thanks for any help

Tim

Hi Scorpio man thanks for the reply

I need hose 2 and hose 3

Have just checked and it looks as though someones spliced a new end on hose 3 at some point which managed to confuse me totally - it doesn't take much :-(
Pic here http://www.timdenning.myby.co.uk/Car/scorpio-leak-6.jpeg
Will dig out the VIN now

Thanks for your help

Hi

BTW looking at the car again it looks like hose 3 disappears waaaaay down into the engine bay - does anyone know if I'll have to get the car up in the air to get the undertray off. That would be beyond me I'm afraid I don't have the kit so another bodge could be on the horizon :-(

Cheers

it seems to have changed in mid '97. maybe a new supplier? not sure, but most of the time, the part is the same.

Tim,

I have a 95 cossie scrapper near Telford, not too far away, it has a battery cover, and all the hoses. Not new, but should be fine (car was running fine before hgf, ford put in a new rad, so would have replaced hoses given half a chance!).

Yours for token beers if you want to head up. Good opportunity to see how they should look as well, i suppose.

Cheers

Hi tintin
Sorry for the delay in responding - I wasn't ignoring you!
Thanks for the offer - trouble is I'd need a lift from a mate or a train to get up there - If I dangled more beer in front of you would you mind posting them once you get the dosh?

Looking at this the postage is going to be way cheaper than the train :-)

That's assuming it's under 2Kg!!!

If your up for it then you can email me your address and desired number of beverages + postage from my website

Just so the spam bots dont grab it
TIA

The undertray is secured by four  small  torx  headed   screws   ( 2 per side ).

No need to lift  the car,   access  to the screws  is easier  if  the  steering is on  full lock.

Ha, am I lucky or what :-(((
I take it it's going to be a while till you get there again?

Mr Floppy thanks for the info on the undertray

Tim
