Title: Revs surge and radiator leak Post by Scorpius on Apr 27th, 2007, 8:20pm Hi all Last week, my Cossie started to surge the revs before a gear change. I think it only happens going from 3rd to 4th. Any ideas.? Miles are 122k Also, the rad has started jetting water out the front at high revs. (4k plus). I have no problem changing it over, but as i still have the rad from my 2.3, i wonder if it is the same as the Cossie? I am assuming that it is. Cheers Ian |

It isn't. Others will surely fill you in on what the differences are. |

Title: Re: Revs surge and radiator leak Post by scorpio_man on Apr 27th, 2007, 10:04pm hi there no, the rads are different. you can change it for the 2.3 one, but you need to change the header tank and maybe some of the pipe work. hth |

Title: Re: Revs surge and radiator leak Post by tintin on Apr 29th, 2007, 11:29am hi, had to change mine recently, bought a scrapper with a nearly new one in it, but they are like hens teeth, and very expensive new..... there is a school of thought that says "converting" to the 2.3 rad is the best option, as it seems to be made better, is cheaper and easier to pick one up. a few people have done the conversion and still running their cars fine after a year or more..... hth, |

Title: Re: Revs surge and radiator leak Post by Scorpius on Apr 29th, 2007, 10:01pm As i already have the 2.3 rad. it seems worth doing. Is the difference just pipe postions or is it more complicated than that.? On the rev surging issue, it does it between 2nd/3rd and 3rd/4th and occurs in mid range gearchanges???? ian |

Yes-with the rest of the Cossie attached! Also there are a recon gearbox/converter,stainless exhaust, 2 genuine Ford catalytic converters less than a year (5000 miles) old and most sensors replaced within the last year or two.But although driveable there are oil pressure problems at the top end of the motor, hence I am scrapping it.Everything else from the AC and cruise control to the towbar are working perfectly. |

Title: Re: Revs surge and radiator leak Post by Scorpius on Apr 30th, 2007, 10:30pm Thanks guys. cossielover has offered me a rad for £25, so taken him up on the offer. Luckily i can still drive the car but i have to keep the throttle opening gentle, and can keep water loss down to 2l every 50 miles. (Not much fun when all i want to do is boot it all the time) Ian |
