Hi can any one give me any information on my problem got on ford scorpio 2.3 16v 1997

The problem is the engine runs great drive fine and smooth its great but as soon as put foot down go up to about 4000 rpm the engine just cuts off just like if you take key out ignision and take about 10 seconds befor it will star again engine just switches of  only happens when put foot down its fine drive normal and on motorway.

I have clean the airflow (MAF) thats fine

Any help be great thanks keith

Look at the wiring on the two coil packs it is prone to breaking down and cracking.

It may also be worth checking the TPS on the side of the throttle body.

Check the fuel pump relay (R17) in the battery side fusebox. It can overheat & shut off the fuel pump  :)

It's the big green/violet one  ;)

A long shot, but make sure the fuel pump cutoff switch in the boot (the one with the red button) is fully pressed in.

Keith I've got the same problem I have tried changing the fuel filter, needed changing but made no difference, tried a different fuel relay no change but it was second hand, I'll go mad and buy a new one to see if it makes a difference and let you know ???
