Title: Locked door
Post by Albion on Jun 11th, 2007, 2:22pm
OK,... Here's my problem,.. well,.. one of them anyway  ;)

My off-side rear door will not open. The child lock is 'on' so I can't open it from inside or out.

What's the best way to go about getting it open without causing too much damage?
Be gentle.... i'm a novice   ;D

Cheers in advance

BiLL

hi there

sounds more like the double locking has stuck on. does your key work in both door locks? locks and unlocks?

if it does, double lock the car with the bonnet up. disconnect the battery (alarm might sound a bit) for 10mins. remember the radio code, etc.

re-connect the battery (remember the alarm). now try to unlock the doors.

hopefully that will work.

I had a similar problem recently on my wifes Focus. This turned out to be a fuse blown in the central locking circuit. Once the fuse was replaced the door lock activated and I was able to release the door. A good dose of WD40 has so far proved successful. The fuse in our cars is No.22 in the central fuse box (Drivers side) and is 20amps. Don't ask where it is on the Focus !!!!!! or how long it takes to get to it!!!. ;)
