Title: Re: ERROR CODE 57 ON CC Post by scorpio_man on Jun 13th, 2007, 6:28am hi there the only known cure seems to be a brand new hbc, but at over £100, not many do this. most just live with it. hth btw, the reset sometimes takes a few attempts to clear the code. :-/ |

Title: Re: ERROR CODE 57 ON CC Post by trebor on Jun 13th, 2007, 7:46pm Iv tried 2 second hand hbc s (known to be good) in mine but still had error code 57. Hbc seems to control the fan speed o k slowing down when it reaches temp , then cutting in and out as required. can you enlighten me anymore. Thanks Bob |

Title: Re: ERROR CODE 57 ON CC Post by scorpio_man on Jun 13th, 2007, 10:35pm hi there if it's working ok (and it appears to be), then i would leave it alone and just clear the error code every now and then. hth |

Title: Re: ERROR CODE 57 ON CC Post by Scorpio_Mike on Jun 14th, 2007, 12:03am I had the CC error code 57 not long after I bought my Scorpio - it was a hot day and it happened just after going over some speed humps in a car park so I think it may be just a bad connection somewhere. Anyway, did the CC reset - had to do it 3 or 4 times to clear the code 57 but it has been fine ever since ! Try unplugging / re-plugging connections - might clean the contacts up. |

What do you mean by not balanced? Mine always has this code, it doesn't make any difference if I clear it but everything seems to work OK. Dave |

Title: Re: ERROR CODE 57 ON CC Post by trebor on Jun 14th, 2007, 7:27pm Thanks scorp Mike , will keep investigating . Wont buy new hbc . I dont think this can be the problem. I though someone would say they have changed hbc, and it made no change. Balanced l/h vent can be blowing hot. r/h blowing cold at same temp setting steams up screen. not balanced Reason why you do the reset ? |

Title: Re: ERROR CODE 57 ON CC Post by Cosray - The Hague - Holland on Jun 15th, 2007, 9:16pm Hi, suffered from several heater & A/C probs - but never ever saw errorcode 57. -- Are you sure you don't mean code 07? See http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ccreset.htm for full details. When replacing an HBC - € 50- 70 in the breaker's yard - make sure you ONLY get the one with the elongated heatsink - it sticks out about 6 inches - can't miss - and slightly curves. Al others have an electrical/ thermal problem and will all irritatingly temporarily shutoff.] Ray |

Title: Re: ERROR CODE 57 ON CC Post by trebor on Jun 17th, 2007, 4:58pm Sorted at last, cleaned HBC and two plug + sockets in front of rads with computer circuit board cleaner. (lots) Have reset it 6 times no error codes come up . Will try again after a run. After you have set 00 in l/h display shouldnt it reads press "recirculated air and a/c " until the 00 starts flashing ? Both of mine have done this now PS Thanks Scorpio Mike will see how it goes Bob |

Title: Re: ERROR CODE 57 ON CC Post by petehull on Jul 4th, 2007, 4:41pm Mine's sorted too, ;D I fitted a new compressor, reciever/drier and a new pressure switch. Have now had it deep vacced tested and re filled (again) reset the SATC module, error 7 showed first time so I re-did it. No error codes.... ;D -1deg on the vents meant that driving to work was a very cooling experience. I haven't had this aircon running like this since I got the car, I think I have finally sorted it... ;D ;D Compressor, Drier and pressure switch, all brand new, no vat £341 delivered next day... Next Problem! Pete |

Title: Re: ERROR CODE 57 ON CC Post by Tompion on Sep 4th, 2007, 7:45pm About a month ago I did some work on the HBC to improve its cooling, so far there have been no codes (I would normally have code 57 by now). I have some longer journeys coming up later in the month, if it’s still OK by then I’ll post details. Pressing the down button when doing a reset shows 50, I’m now wondering if the 5 is really a digital S meaning: S0 = stored codes 00 S7 = stored codes 07 In which case maybe it stores more than 1 instance of the code, hence some people have to do more than one reset to clear each code? Title: Re: ERROR CODE 57 ON CC Post by Tompion on Sep 5th, 2007, 4:18pm I’m now fairly sure the 5 indicates a stored code. I tried disconnecting the ribbon cable and turning on the ignition, leaving it for a couple of minutes then turned it off, reconnected the ribbon cable & checked for codes: S2 S2 S1 S0 You need to press the up button 4 times to make sure you're at the top of the list (it came on at the third in the list) otherwise you can’t tell how many duplicate codes. So in the above list the first press of the down key appears to do nothing as it’s a repeat of the first code. Whether it stores codes from more than one session I don’t know, as I’m not getting code 57 at the moment I can’t check if it stores more than 1 instance. It only took 1 reset to clear all codes, so that’s not the reason some people have to reset more than once. on 06/17/07 at 16:58:00, trebor wrote:
Yes that's what I find (although doesn't appear necessary to set it to 00), and you need to wait till it stops flashing & returns to -- Dave |
